at school

I'm sitting in some random room, hiding from the cold until my class starts at 5. I'm kind of nervous because I've never taken American Studies before, I'm concerned I'm going to be the only non-Asian American in the class, and when I e-mailed the professor to tell her I'd be missing the first day she said, "I don't usually make exceptions for people who miss the first day of class, but I don't want you spreading your disease, so...". All my others professors were just like, "Oh my! Feel better!" so I don't know if she was trying to be funny or if she's kind of scary. We'll see, I suppose. I'm excited about the class, though: AMST 127E Asian American Women. Right up my alley. Right now we're focusing on "herstory" <3.

In other news, my chest hurts. From the breathing, and the cold, and the pneumonia. You know. Aside from that, I feel pretty much fine, though. Still a lil out of it, but fine.

Also, listening to the Marie Anoinette soundtrack. I wonder if this movie and/or its soundtrack will ever get old? It's one of those things that I love sort of beyond reason. The movie more so than the soundtrack. Most people thought it was shallow, but I dunno, I just really loved it. And for more than just the costume porn. It was beautiful and I loved the feeling and mood and history that in evoked, rather than showed, I suppose.

This is what happens when I update when I'm bored at school...ramble ramble...
I just made a ridiculously long post on my "Lolita Icon" in one of my Lolita communities. The funny thing is that it's not even exhaustive of everything I know. I'm way too interested in her.

IF YOU'RE GOING TO COMMENT ON IT DO IT HERE, NOT ON THAT POST. You will confuse the other Lolis if you post there, lol.

Also! Katy Perry is really cool. Check check check her out.
I really want these two dolls. I got my hair cut kind of like the Frenchy doll's today...hee. I've sort of been toying with the idea of picking Barbie collecting back up, but I know I shouldn't. Like I really need another expensive hobby that's just going to take up more shelving space.

I'm reading a really interesting book right now called Queen of Fashion: What Marie Antoinette Wore to the Revolution. It wouldn't make a whole lot of sense if you know nothing about her life or nothing about fashion history, but it's still a very interesting read. I love it when history books are well written and not boring. <3 Although, it's probably just that I love Marie way too much.

So...I am torn. I have three options for this weekend:

1) Go home and do homework while Joel hangs out with Derrek most of the time.
2) Go shopping with my mom in the greater Stockton/Sacramento area
3) Go to a Lolita meet-up in SF to see Marie Antoinette's furniture <3

All three choices sound equally good. I'm dying to go shopping, but I also really want to see the Marie exhibit and go to my first meet-up. I also really want to see Joel and get some work done. What should I doooooo?

In other news, my Lolita stuff came yesterday! I haven't taken any pictures yet, and I'm missing the stupid cord that connects my camera to my computer, but as soon as I feel like modeling, y'all can see them. They're gorgeous. :D

It's going to cost a hundred plus dollars if I want to bleach my hair. Lame. Especially because I really don't have a hundred plus dollars to spend on my hair, as I have no job and need about another two thousand five hundred dollars to pay for my Europe trip. Oh, you slay me.

I don't want to read St. Augustine's confessions. BLAH.

I'm finally more or less settled in my room in santa cruz. There are redwoods right outside my window again. I think that's one of my favorite parts. My room is decorated, with one glaring white spot that desperately needs a poster. The apartment is decidedly not decorated. Decidedly. But we're working on it. I don't know...I'm not really fully okay here yet. I miss Joel and my puppy and all my home friends too much still. I'm glad my room is decorated now...I think that will make it better.

In other news, I finally got around to reading my fashion mags today and, my, the fashion world is a bit baroque obsessed! I kept thinking I was looking at "Marie Antoinette" spreads, but it was just your average ad! It was interesting. If I were Sofia Coppola I would be like, "Dude, I rock. I started that."

Also, I was looking at my Lost calendar and I suddenly got really, really excited for Lost.
