So, y'all probably don't know this about me because I don't identify very strongly and I don't talk about it a lot because it can be a bit controversial, but I semi-identify as a neopagan. If asked, I'll usually says I am an "agnostic neopagan" because I'm not 100% what it going on out in the great cosmic soup of the world, but I do believe in the divinity in nature and an amount of multiplicity in divinity as well. When I was 12, and periodically since then, I got really into Wicca, specifically. When I'm feeling spiritual, I tend to like to express it in sort of "witchy" ways.

ANYWAY, the point of all that is that today is Beltane! Or May Day. This is the one pagan holiday I celebrate almost every year, although usually just by wearing flowers in my hair and/or celebrating fertility in a non-babymaking way. I like to celebrate the solstices and equinoxes as well, but I don't always remember to celebrate those for some reason...but Beltane always sticks out to me. I think it's because it's when things start to get warm, and I want to commune with nature more. And I like that it's a sort of sexual holiday. >:)

Well, I'm off to look at flowers, maybe see if I can find a maypole to dance around. Anyone else celebrating Beltane today? What are all y'alls religious leanings anyway? I don't want to start any controversy, and I know religion can be a touchy subject, but I'm curious, if you want to share.

Have a nice, summer-y day. :)

That's cool! I really respect people who appreciate nature and even double respect people who aren't all know-it-all about religiousy stuff. Hell if I know what the fuck's REALLY going on up there, either.

AS FORM ME? I started calling myself what I've heard people call me before, which is THE RENEGADE MORMON. I don't go to church, I swear a lot, I'm generally a bitch, all the video games I play are violent, but I'm VERY straight-edge. I'm just a good Christian girl who puts up a really tough act :(

It's always good to be questioning, I think. The world and the universe are such a vast, vast place and it seems like it would be impossible for one of us puny little human to TRULY claim knowledge, of it all. That's my opinion, anywhoo.

Renegade Mormon is an excellent title for you. Ain't nothing wrong with being a good Christian girl, if that's what's really in your heart. I respect you for owning that, honestly.

I like the idea of nature-related religion.

I'm very non-religious and if I had to be classified as anything it would be Atheist. But I've been to some churches of my friends/relatives and think they're fine. I just wasn't raised to believe in spiritual beings.

I'm probably way too self-centered to have a religion anyway. haha.

It's funny, because I wasn't really raised in any sort of religious tradition, my Dad took me to his Lutheran church a few times, but spirituality was never something I talked about with my family, it was just something I came to on my own. I've definitely gone through non-religious phases, and really that's how I am most of the time, too.

I'm Agnostic, leaning towards Atheist and used to be Wicca in highschool. I think there is a slight possibility of a higher power but I doubt it and I surely haven't found an organized religion that I could believe in entirely. Personally I believe in treating everyone (animals, people and the earth) with respect and hope that if you do good then good will eventually come back to you. I think one of the most important things is the right to believe in whatever is right for you and not forcing your own beliefs on others.

Oh, and to celebrate May Day I went to a Steampunk picnic at the rose garden in San Jose. We all brought flower bouquets and had a tutorial on how to turn them into flower hair wreaths, which we wore while exploring the gardens.

I agree completely. Respect, being a good person, and letting people come to spirituality (or not) on their own are really the most important things.

Steampunk picnic would be such a great way to celebrate May Day! That sounds like so much fun.

I consider myself to be a "left-hand path" pantheist.

Sadly, I didn't do anything to celebrate May Day or even Walpurgisnacht... just homework and loafing around. ;( But usually I pay more attention to lunar phases. During this most recent full moon, for example, I dedicated and charged my set of futhark runes.

That is really, really interesting. I had to google almost all of those terms, lol. Which is really awesome because I love to learn about new religions.
